SPMCIL - Inter-Unit quiz competition on 22nd July’2020 (Pen-Paper based) & 24th July’2020 (On-line)

The world is facing an unprecedented time as Covid-19 has affected our lives terribly. With the environment of curtailed employee engagement activities, organization in today’s scenario has to overcome this turmoil with a feeling of “Espirit de corpes “. SPMCIL as a fraternity intends to engrain this feeling and with this premise in mind, an Inter-Unit quiz competition on “General Awareness” amongst the employees of SPMCIL was organised in two stages: Stage-I: Pen-Paper based Quiz (Off-line) was organized on 22.07.2020 whereas Stage-2 was conducted using contemporary method of participation through on-line platform by a “Quiz Master” on 24.07.2020. Employees from 10 centers (9 units and CHO) participated for Stage-I, where in all willing employees participated. For Stage-II of the Quiz Competition, however, top two performers from each Team (Units & CHO) participated. Quiz competition witnessed active participation of Employees with a great zeal and helped them in expanding their knowledge base and hone their team working skills.

For implementing the Management vision of “Mandatory utilization of SAP BI system reports for MIS reporting & discontinuance of manual reporting”, BI Excellence core teams at units have been formed. Further to enable and empower the nominated teams BI Excellence Core team, business vertical wise trainings Security Paper Mill and for Finance team has been scheduled from 3rd to 4th March & for FI BI excellence core team on 5th & 6th March 2020 at Data Centre, IGMN. The training was inaugurated and Key note address was given by our Additional General Manager (IT) Shri Ram Sahai, wherein he encouraged the participants and all present to innovate by thinking out of the box and by adapting the IT systems by discarding manual reporting and optimally utilizing the SAP BI systems for reporting which will not only eradicate duplicity of efforts of officials but will also ensure the time saved is utilized in achieving SPMCIL business objectives. He also briefed regarding the upcoming IT projects where in new technologies like Dynamic Dashboards AI, ML, Data Analysis, machine automation are under consideration for implementation to improve KPIs and achieve desired goals of SPMCIL.

Further to enable and empower the nominated teams BI Excellence Core team, business vertical wise trainings for Mints, Currency Press & Security Press verticals has been scheduled from 16th to 21st Dec’ 2019 at Data Centre, IGMN, respectively. The training was inaugurated and Key note address speech was given by our Director Finance Shri. Ajay Agarwal, on 16th December 2019 wherein he encouraged the participants and all present to innovate by thinking out of the box and by adapting the IT systems by discarding manual reporting and optimally utilizing the SAP BI systems for reporting which will not only eradicate duplicity of efforts of officials but will also ensure the time saved is utilized in achieving SPMCIL business objectives. The purpose of the training is to provide details of the existing BI system to the unit BI core team members and operational training on how to view BI reports for optimal utilization of the ERP system and for automatic system generated MIS reporting to Unit Heads and Corporate office. The BI Excellence core team will necessitate respective units to start utilizing the existing system generated BI reports for MIS reporting across units and to Top management. The importance of timely entry of all data in SAP ERP system will be emphasized in order for accurate reporting. The training will not only solve the Lack of Accountability BI MIS reports & Lack of understanding of BI system operation at unit. But this training will ensure getting optimal utilization from the existing reports and will enable, empower the BI core team from units & corporate office to carry out MIS system generated reporting. A preview of roadmap of BI upgrade to latest technology and subsequent preview of Dynamic reports will also be given to the participants in order to align unit teams with SPMCIL’s Top management’s dynamic reporting strategies. The aim of the training is two-fold, first is to prepare the units for utilizing the data in the MIS reports for taking business based decisions towards, cost reduction, revenue generation. The second purpose of the training is utilizing technology and automation for achieving Top management’s need for monitoring and control of production process in each stage of manufacturing process with a scope for using various reports through BI system for overheads control, production achievement as per targets etc.
CSR initiatives of SPMCIL with SDMC

Under the CSR initiatives of the Company, SPMCIL conveyed approval for CSR project of installation of 5 Ton capacity waste to energy bio-gas plant at a cost of Rs.1.45 Crores at Waste to wonder park at Sarai Kale Khan through South Delhi Municipal Corporation. The document was handed over on 27.11.2019 by Ms. Tripti Patra Ghosh, CMD, SPMCIL to Smt. Sunita Kangra, Mayor, SDMC, in presence of Shri Gyanesh Bharti, IAS, Commissioner SDMC, Shri Ajai Kumar Srivastav, Director (Technical), SPMCIL, Shri S.K. Sinha, Director (HR), SPMCIL, Shri Ajay Agarwal, Director (Finance) SPMCIL. Shri B.J. Gupta, General Manager (HR), SPMCIL and Shri A. Durga Prasad, Dy.GM(HR) were also present.

A Technical Automation workshop was successfully conducted at IGMM under the chairmanship of Director Technical Shri. Ajai Kumar Srivastav on 31st October & 1st November, wherein Unit General Managers, Senior Technical officials and IT team participated. The purpose of the workshop was utilizing technology and automation for providing a strategy to Top management for monitoring and control of production process in each stage of manufacturing process with a scope for using various reports through BI system for cost reduction, revenue generation, overheads control, production achievement as per targets etc. In the workshop, the first agenda was bringing awareness of existing BI system to the Unit GMs’and BI reports were showcased to the participants for optimal utilization of the ERP system. Directions were given to all concerned to start utilizing the existing system generated BI reports for MIS reporting across units and to Top management. Timely entry of all data in SAP ERP system needs to be streamlined in order for accurate reporting. Second agenda was live SCADA system visit at unit followed with a presentation on Machine Automation (Productivity Measurement Analysis & Statistical System-PMASS). The third agenda was Presentation and product demo by M/s SAP India on MII (Manufacturing Integration & Intelligence) where in the product was discussed in detail with all its features of machine automation and its dashboard for plant to monitor machined in real-time with alerts.
